Casa Américo is a family-owned wine estate from Portugal’s Dão region, dedicated to expressing the elegance and authenticity of this historic terroir. Working with old vines and native grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro, the estate combines sustainable viticulture with minimal-intervention winemaking. The result is a refined range of wines that balance freshness, structure, and a true sense of place.
A terroir of granitic soils, with altitudes of between 400 and 600 meters & located near the Vila Nova de Tazem e Gouveia, the vines are between 15 and 40 years old.
TASTING NOTES
A bright ruby colour. Fragrant aroma with notes of red fruits and light toast. The palate has nice fruit flavours, with acidity and round tannins.
FOOD PAIRINGS
A Dão red made from Touriga Nacional, Jaen, and Tinta Roriz pairs best with elegant, savoury dishes rather than heavy or spicy foods. It works beautifully with grilled or roasted lamb, pork, duck, veal, and Portuguese classics like duck rice or bean-and-pork stews, as well as Mediterranean dishes with herbs, olive oil, and tomato. Mushrooms, roasted vegetables, lentils, and semi-hard cheeses such as Manchego or São Jorge are also great matches, highlighting the wine’s freshness, fine tannins, and aromatic complexity.
