The Calcu Vineyards and Viña Maquis share a winery in Palmilla in the Colchagua Valley for making and ageing their wines. The winery was built in 2002 under a sustainable concept using gravity technology to allow the grapes and musts to move gently in order to better preserve the aromas and flavours of each of its wines.Equipped with an innovative geothermal plant, it is the only winery in Chile that uses this type of energy for its wine production. Thanks to this initiative, they were recognised by the Chilean-British Chamber of Commerce as they reduced their gas consumption by 90% and electricity consumption by 40% per litre of wine produced.
TASTING NOTES
This deep, bright and velvety ruby coloured Cabernet Franc is highly expressive with delicious and complex notes of blackberries, fresh herbs like rosemary, sage and floral aromas. The mouth is well-balanced with an elegant tannic structure and along, fruity finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It pairs well with grilled lamb, roast duck, and beef tenderloin. It also goes nicely with lentil stew, herb-roasted chicken, and mushroom risotto. Soft cheeses like Camembert or aged goat cheese are a great match too.
