Acquired in 1706 by D. Lourenço de Almeida, Quinta da Lapa has a rich history rooted in excellence. Situated in the fertile hills to the east of Montejunto, now part of the renowned Tejo Wine Region, this estate was handpicked for its exceptional terroir.
D. Lourenço, son of the Count of Avintes, transformed the estate in 1733, establishing a grand manor, a chapel, and a state-of-the-art wine cellar designed to craft the finest wines from the surrounding vineyards. Nearly three centuries later, the estate underwent a modern revival—replanting vineyards with traditional and international grape varieties to maximise the region’s potential.
Today, Quinta da Lapa’s commitment to excellence continues to shine. Their wines, crafted with care and tradition, consistently win top awards in both international and domestic wine competitions. With a perfect blend of history, innovation, and superior terroir, these wines offer an unforgettable experience in every glass.
WINE MAKING PROCESS
Crafted with precision, this Alvarinho undergoes fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, ensuring purity and freshness. There’s no oak ageing or fermentation, allowing the natural grape flavours to shine.
TASTING NOTES
Alvarinho grapes express themselves uniquely across regions, and this bottle is a true reflection of the Tejo terroir. Expect the classic Alvarinho characteristics, but with an added depth. Layers of flinty minerality combine with delicate aromas of jasmine and ripe pineapple. On the palate, it’s fresh and fruity, with vibrant notes of green citrus and tropical fruit. The wine’s minerality and slow-releasing perfumed flavours, like peach, create a long, elegant finish, leaving a beautifully textured impression.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Perfect with grilled sardines, BBQ oily fish, seafood, and shellfish. It also complements dishes like calamari, risottos, paellas, and hearty soups with chickpeas, beans, and fresh herbs.
